What High School's program do I study at SIC?

The only academic program currently offered at SIC is the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE), which is accredited and quality-assured by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) of Western Australia.

You can explore more about the program on the official SCSA website.
SIC delivers the Western Australian high school curriculum, enabling students to pursue and potentially earn the WACE diploma issued by SCSA.

Students who meet the eligibility criteria for the WACE  will also qualify for an ATAR ranking, which can be used for direct university admission or scholarship applications at universities in Australia and select institutions worldwide.

Students who do not meet the requirements for the WACE at SIC, as outlined by SCSA, will instead receive a Western Australian Statement of Student Achievement (WASSA). This document, issued by SCSA, provides a detailed record of academic performance in each subject studied during Years 11 and 12.

As an international student, SIC Students must meet the following requirements to achieve WACE:

  • 4 or 5 ATAR subjects in Year 12
  • 14 C grades or better, 6 of which must be in Year 12
  • For a year-long course, the final mark and grade counts as 2 Cs. For a semester course (Unit 1 or Unit 2), the final mark/grade of the relevant semester counts as one C.
  • OLNA
  • List A and List B courses
  • Mathematics and English meet this requirement
  • 20 units of study in Year 11 and Year 12
  • Five courses in Year 11 and Year 12 meet this requirement
ATAR level courses are more challenging and academically demanding, with strict requirements set by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) compared to GENERAL level courses.

At the end of Year 12:
• Students enrolled in ATAR level subjects must take the WACE final examinations.
• Students enrolled in Year 12 GENERAL level subjects only complete Externally Set Tasks (EST) provided by SCSA to assess their subject performance.

To be awarded the WACE and obtain an ATAR ranking (used for direct university admission and scholarship consideration), students must take at least 4 ATAR level courses in year 12.

Students choosing GENERAL level courses are not eligible for the WACE and will instead receive the Western Australian Statement of Student Achievement (WASSA).

Note for university pathways:

  • Most Australian universities require students with GENERAL level courses to complete an additional 1-year Foundation program before qualifying for first-year university admission in Australia.
  • For other countries, parents should research the entry requirements of prospective universities before selecting course and its levels in Years 11 and 12.
